Produced from within one of the world's oldest wine regions, Brunello di Montalcino  is arguably the most prestigious of all Italian wine. From planting, through the whole production process, a strict set of rules is followed.

Made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes grown in Montalcino, a classic Tuscan hilltop village 20 miles south of Siena. Brunello translates roughly as "little dark one", and is the local vernacular name for Sangiovese Grosso, the large-berried form of Sangiovese which grows around Montalcino.

The Estate "Il Galampio", of 50 hectares is located close to Siena in the town of Montalcino, within which municipality are found the producers of the world-renowned Brunello and Brunello Riserva wines. The vineyards are laid out over an area of 14 hectares.

Marchesato Degli Aleramici wines are  continuing to evolve, refined over many years to give their most distinctive features of strength, elegance and longevity.

    Tasting Notes:

Produced with younger Sangiovese Grosso vines, Rosso di Montalcino undergoes a shorter refining in barrels than its older brother, Brunello.

12 months in barrels gives it great texture and persistence, vibrant and tannic, although elegant and aromatic.

Would complement roasted meat, pasta with tomato-based sauce.

Italian Speciality Arrosto Misto (a simple while piece of roast chicken or beef)

The Brunello is refined over 48 months in barrels. The resulting wine is truly one of Italian's greatest.

Its aroma is becoming more intense with age, complex and variegated, ranging form spice, cedar wood, chocolate to forest fruits.

The Brunello is ideal to be enjoyed alonside meat dishes, lamb, duck, game and strong cheeses such as parmesan, pecorino.  It is recommended to uncork the bottle a few hours before consumption and serve at temperature between 18°C and 20°C.

Only produced from the best and carefully selected Sangiovese Grosso and aged over 4 years in barrels plus an extra 18 months in bottle. This is the ultimate fruity, complex, robust wine. It has a great ageing potential, over 5 to 25 years. Surely, a wine for special occasions.

Excellent with roasted meat, savoury game or mature cheeses.
