Coined “the New Tuscany”, the Marche wine region is one of Italy’s last "untouched" wine regions, sandwiched between the Apennine Mountain and the Adriatic Sea, a must for gourmet travellers.
Historically, the region is best known for its Verdicchio, a white wine which is making a distinct impression; crisp, refreshing wine, layered with delicious complexity. Many connoisseurs believe Marche is capable of producing impressively structured, quality-driven wines, including the reds, Rosso Conero and Rosso Piceno from the Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes.
The Rosso Conero is particularly appreciated. The limestone-rich soil of places like the Mount Conero, combined with the dry maritime climate, contribute to the Montepulciano grapes that produce wines with such characteristic flavour.
Maurizio is a charming character, his passion and dedication to quality drives him to harvest his grapes on several cycles to ensure every bunch is picked at the moment of optimum maturation, which then takes place in Slovenian oak barrels.
